Magic

Note on what makes a few technologies and products magical

  • OKPI - Framework that we created.

    • Objectives → we always have some objectives (that more or less remain the same)
    • Knowledge → Then we have knowledge that we can apply to reach objective (this changes a lot with time; and you either create the knowledge yourself; or be at the frontier of the knowledge)
    • Perception → You need to perceive your current position and the objective’s position - the delta vector and figure out the next steps keeping in mind the knowledge.
    • Interaction → based on your perception and understanding of knowledge; you decide the next steps; and take actions on it. Interaction is action towards objective.
    • Example: Objective → Going to HSR; knowledge → car that can move me, can use map to navigate, gotta leave at right time to reach by 6; perception → the current position; and time; interaction → getting in the car; driving it (walking)

  • So, where’s the magic?

    • Magic happens when perception and interaction are deeply embedded. Where human has to do nothing inorder to go the objective. The tech solution is designed in a way that it works perfectly.
      • GPS in our cars → Perceives the current position, and gives us next action. Autonomous cars are the peak magic that we can experience in our objective of navigating the physical space.
      • Grammerly (perceives the text, and act on it directly); Cursor (perceives the codebase, and act on it); and all the working ambient systems.
      • Spectacles, and language can also be seen as magic (they were just evolved a lot back so we don’t see them as technology; but they are technology)
    • And, this magic is how we achieve the most advanced and evolved tech solution of the time.
    • Magic is just automatic and deeply embedded perception and interaction given the best knowledge.

  • More points

    • Knowledge keeps changing. And the solution needs to have peak knowledge of the time in order to work like magic - knowledge is a necessary condition.
    • This applies to a big lot of problems, but plausibly not everything. We’ll write about the boundary of the problems in upcoming note.

  • Aim (in tech evolution) of the entire mankind is to hit the most efficiency, and thus achieve the MAGIC.
